My husband of 25 years announced last week that he was no longer inlove with me and wanted a divorce. He had a stroke in 2017 and developed vascular dementia. He has gotten meaner and less tolerant and me and the children walked on egg shells. But we dealt with it. Even went into counseling to learn to deal with it. Because we knew he was sick. And we love him. Now he says he hasn’t been happy in a long time and he wants a divorce. He has moved out. My heart hurts.

It sounds like his condition has made him an unhappy person. Strokes can affect different areas of the brain that can change a person a lot. It may be too hard for him to function being around others. It sounds like he can get quickly overwhelmed and angry.

It may be better if he lives separate. Not sure if he is able to do that. Can he take care of himself?
