My husband for 13 years (together for 17 years) says he wants a divorce after a 4 month separation. We got married around 26 and we are both 40 now. We have no kids and I am absolutely devastated. About 2 years ago I switched up careers which now has me making a 1/4 of what he makes a year. We had decided on this together because it would not be a financial issue. Now I am devastated, I miss him, I want to try and work things out, but he is finished with this marriage. Along with the heartache is this overwhelming anxiety over what will happen to me now that I cannot even make an adequate salary anymore! I am terrified about what is to come!! Does anyone have any advice????

Hey Jessica,

I'm so sorry to hear about what you're going through. Do you have family/friends who can support you emotionally while you go through this?
Its hard to think straight right now I'm sure... But as for financial worries, he will have to pay you alimony so that you aren't financially destroyed by this. Talk to a lawyer asap if you can.

You are going to get through this. Take it moment by moment.
