So it’s been a year now since my mom said for the first time she wanted to get divorced. My life crumbled back then, my parents have been together for 30 years. I’m 23. Covid has ruined it all… lockdown, problems with money, self esteem, everything. I don’t think my mom is thinking clear.

Every time they fight I feel like my life crumbles down. Maybe I’m dependant or something. I have BPD and major depressive disorder, which doesn’t help much huh.

My mother asked my father today again, darkness filled my whole life and now I feel there’s no hope. I don’t know how to make it through the night. I feel miserable.

Do you think I’m going to make it through?

I do think you will. Many people have divorced parents and have been able to maintain good relationships with both parents.

Maybe your parents will be happier apart. I'd rather have parents who were happy apart than miserable together.

Thank you so much for your reply. I guess I’ll just need to get used to it and cope with my emotions and loneliness

Do you have anyone in real life you can talk to? Other than your parents?

Hey @Interrupted Girl:
Are they for sure getting divorced or sort of throwing the word around/fighting about it? Has anyone taken formal action? Do you have a therapist?

I am sorry. It’s not easy but I’d focus on building your own life separately from your parents. Even if your parents stayed married, at some point you’d have to start living your own life and filling your life with other things and people besides your parents. I recommend to see a therapist to help you cope with their divorce and address your loneliness.

I don’t, now that you say it. I used to have a therapist. Left her a lot before all of this problems started. Today is one of those nights. I need to look out for help for myself.
