Hello. I've been officially divorced for seven months. The situation is tough as I've moved out of our home and am living on my own in a small apartment. We're not communicating at all. I'm finding it really distressing and I am concerned that after seven months I am still having regular crying spells and feeling really depressed. I am still able to function insofar as I have continued to work full time, exercise, socialise and try out some new things, but I can't shake intense feelings of sadness that overwhelm and my mood is really down. Curious to know how long other people went through similar feelings after they were divorced and what worked for them. Thank you

![]() I see this is your first post, and I just wanted to respond. It is very understandable to be coping with emotional distress in your situation. Talking or writing about your feelings can help, as you have a lot to process from what has occurred.

@MrTSW you were with someone for seventeen years, it’s going to take you time to rebuild your life. I can’t say enough how important it is to be patient with yourself and know it’s ok to have these tearful periods, you are mourning a loss. It’s going to take time for you to fill your life with new things it’s a rewiring of how to live your life differently.

Grieving has no time frame, it takes as long as it takes. I was married for 31 years, been alone for 21 years, and I still occasionally think about it. Be gentle with yourself.
