It's as though I had no idea how to be a good one. I love my wife. Just because I was a lousy husband doesn't mean I didn't have a heart full of love. I did. And I do. I'm just heartbroken. Devastated.

@Arkady Jameson I hear you. Not blaming yourself is part of the healing process. We cannot control what other people do and say. The only thing I can control is how I judge myself and how I react to what others say and do.

Let go of your past and it’s associated guilt. Try to be better than you were yesterday.
You will find your journey towards healing will become a little smoother |

You know, my new friends, I've had something of an epiphany I the last few hours. I'm done wallowing in a warm bath of regret. Nuts. I'm getting on with my life, for however long I have, and I'm going to quit beating myself up.
Here's the really good news for you guys going through terrible times In a divorce: the epiphany is coming for you too. Hang in there. |

You probably had a lot of ideas about how to be a good husband. It may come down to two people just not putting in the right effort to make it a good marriage. I’m recently divorce and have been thinking the same thing. How did this go so badly? I’m sure neither of us intended it to be such a nightmare, so how did it happen? And boy did it ever go bad… But I like what you said here about moving forward and not beating yourself up. __________________ "And don't say it hasn't been a little slice of heaven, 'cause it hasn't!" .
