Hi all. I am new here. I suffer from a few different "issues" and I plan to post about them over time. But I wanted to start with the one that tends to plague me the most lately. Not only am I an emotional eater, but I also have an issue with sugar cravings at night.

Even though I am a Holistic Life Coach myself, and I have taken numerous classes on nutrition, I still found it hard to curb the snacking and the need for sugar. The worst is that I snack when I am bored, stressed, depressed, angry... Pretty much any emotion I had made me eat.

First I tried just not having sugar filled foods in the house. But then I find I eat a whole other meal instead of just a snack. When I realized I couldn't do it on my own I turned to foods focused counseling. With the help of a Holistic Nutrition Coach I was able to learn different ways of eating, and dealing with those nasty sugar cravings.

Once in a great while I fall back to the late night sugar cravings though. Any other tips?

Great job in reaching out and finding someone to help you through this. I have cravings for sugary things too, and I find that if I eat something that is sweet, such as a fruit or jello or even a little pudding cup or something that doesn't have too many calories that I still fulfill the cravings and don't feel so guilty about eating things like these. Also remember that it is okay to treat yourself every once in awhile. This is important because if you cut out certain foods, you will crave them more.

Wishing you lots of luck in your recovery!
