I really don't know what's wrong with me. I don't eat much but I still cannot lose weight. Today I ate one and a half pizza sticks and a few bits of some pasta stuff (free food from work). But I've actually gained weight!!!! I drank a lot juice today though (I mean a ton because I'm sick plus it doesn't make me feel hunger as much). I don't have an ED but I purge and restrict calories and exercise sometimes. My therapist doesn't want me to exercise because she says I don't eat enough. Please!! I eat too much!! But anyway, I still cannot lose weight. I can go a while without eating. And I'll lose like one pound (I know it's not actual fat but it still makes me feel good knowing that something is off of me). But when I eat (usually little amounts), I step on the scale and I've gained it back and then some. What can I do to keep my weight down? I really need help with this. Please. Someone with good advice on how to lose weight.

When you don't enough to meet your bodies needs it actually goes into starvation mode - holding onto every little calorie it can get it's hands on. Not eating enough will also slow down your metabolism. So its a double whammy. When you are sick you metabolism is also affected.

Purging will wreck the lining of your stomach and do nasty things to your teeth. Getting on the scales often is only recording fluctuations of water in your body. If you don't eat properly you will lose muscle. And you want muscle as that burns fat.

The truth is that you have to eat properly in order to lose weight. Juice is not a good option as it is full of sugar. But maybe you need that to off set your lack of real food.

Get real with your therapist and try seeing a dietician to help you understand how your body works might help you also.

Good luck.
Thanks for this!

your bod may very well be in starvation mode. what are your stats? (weight, height, bmi, etc). and how long have you been fasting? one way to jump start you metabolism is to eat lean protein in small amounts, many times throughout the day and to work out to build muscle, which will in turn give you a higher metabolic rate and burn fat at a faster pace.

I'd say you need ahealthy eating plan. And maybe seeing a dietician will help.
Why dont you try doing a food/fluid diary for a week then showing your T.But be honest you wont get the right help if your honest.
Its difficult and everything but you say you dont have an eating disorder.
can you admit to yourself that your eating pattern is disordered?

how long have you been eating the way that you do? your weight is normal for your height. I'm the same height but am always underweight. I find it hard to lose weight too. last time it took about a 450-600 calorie workout 5 days a week and no more than 700 calories a day to lose 13 lbs in three months. It wasn't healthy though and I got too low in weight and got sick.
