This article makes complete sense.....

I had gone through a trauma at the end of last year that created PTSD symptoms & anxiety level that was so high I just couldn't handle it. With it came nausea & with that came not being able to eat or intake anything because of the sick feeling I had. Like eating when you have the stomach flu.

I lost so much weight that I was hospitalized for malnutrition.....yes....it was Dx'ed as anorexia. Because they didn't understand what I had gone through, the medical hospital's pdoc & even my own pdoc were determined that I needed treatment in an ED center. When I talked to the centers, they were the ones that realized my anorexia came from anxiety & not "body image". The only thing that the tests showed up were a cortisol level that was way off.....which is effected by anxiety...thus causing nausea & the desire to avoid any food. The Dr's didn't understand the correlation at the time until I finally spelled it out to them. For me, not eating made me feel better also....not sure if that was because eating added to the nausea & not eating felt much better. The correlation with brain chemistry & body chemistry from anxiety effects so many unknown factors......but I can personally attest to the truth in this article.
