Welcome to PC. I don't struggle with eating disorders per se so really don't have much to offer than a hello and a listening ear... or eyes as the case may be. Things here are still a little slow from the holidays but take a look around... I am sure others will respond soon... hopfully with more help that what I can offer.

Hi chellyz. Is there anyway you can get medicaid or other form of insurance? When I was in the hospital, they helped me apply for medicaid and I was approved. In fact they retroactivated it for 3 months prior. Also you could look into community health places that offer free or low cost services. I hope this helps and until you are able to get professional help, continue to post here. It really helps.

Okay, I think the first step is to truly decide that you no longer want to be bulimic. I don't necessarily think that rehab is necessary. I know it's good, but I don't think it's necessary. I mean, perhaps you can start the recovery process right now and then go to rehab a little later when you have the money.

The first time I was dealing with anorexia, my pdoc got me into a treatment center where they had money to cover people who didn't have any money or their insurance wouldn't cover it. (sort of a fund they had available for people like that). My pdoc sent another lady who was dealing with bulimia there at the same time I was there. I was there for just over a month. Only thing they didn't cover was the therapy.....I wasn't about to pay for the jerk they had as a therapist though.....we definitely didn't hit if off well at all. I really didn't relate to the program as they didn't really help me with the issues I was dealing with that were causing the anorexia in the first place.....but at least I found out there were places that have the funds to treat people who are really struggling with ED's.....you just have to look around & sometimes have a pdoc's help.
