The only way you can really stop purging is through will/determination and working with your therapist. Talk to them, see what their strategies are that may help you.

There's nothing "bad" about the dentist being in the partnership; it is really a waste of time and money to work on your mouth if you keep purging and could cause complications.
If it is your dentist that "discovered" your disorder; I would get a doctor/psychiatrist/therapist and dietitian who specializes in purging disorder rather than stay with a "general" therapist you might have gone to see for other problems.

I went to centresyracuse for my ed. Maybe you could benefit from a ed clinic I know it helped me to become stronger. I still slip up here and there but I feel I have more control over my life. I'm not sure where you live but maybe there is an ed clinic near you. I hope this helps.

The only way you can stop is by putting into practice what you are learning in your outpatient treatment.
Using your own self-control. You also need to deal with the issues that continue to cause you to feel the need to express your problems through purging & through your anorexia. It's obvious that you haven't come to terms with the things from your past that are causing your behavior to turn to purging & anorexia.....you need to learn other ways of dealing with the emotions that you are struggling with. While you are learning those other ways, you just need to have the self-control & the self-discipline to stop yourself from purging. There is nothing easy about it & there is nothing anyone else can do to make you stop.....it's all hard work that YOU HAVE TO DO YOURSELF!!!! If your treatment doesn't seem to really be helping you, then maybe it's time that you need to go into an inpatient treatment center....but they really only help when you are at the point where you really want the help & aren't just going through the motions of getting the help & not applying it to your life. There isn't a treatment team in the world that can MAKE you better....it's something that you have to do yourself & have to want for yourself before you can truly be successful. Praying for your strength to finally get through this....you know yourself that the only way you can stop purging is to just stop doing it.....there just is no other way.

By sticking with what you are learning in therapy and doing your best to apply it to your daily life even when it feels difficult.
If things get too hard or unsafe, it also would be a good idea to look into some form on inpatient/partial hospitalization where you can be stabilized and learn skills. But in any level of program, you have to be willing to work with your therapist and whoever else is involved in your case and follow the suggestions they tell you. ![]()
