Hi Crazydancinggirl87,

I'm just wondering...is she talking about going out to restaurants with you to help you with menu selections or to the grocery store to help you shop or does she want you to brown bag it in her office and she sits and has a picnic lunch with you? I'm just a little confused... I've heard of all 3..

Can you think of what is making you the MOST, most nervous? Is it eating in front of her or making healthy choices in front of her? I'm thinking if you bring it down to your most basic fear, maybe you face it just a little at a time and actually discuss it with her. Sometimes when I get panicky, it all runs together in a ball kind of...and I have to unravel to see what started the fear and then take it to her and say "THIS" is what is causing me so much anxiety...can you help me with it??

I don't know if this helps at ALL or not..maybe just trying to help understand...She sounds very supportive and like she really wants to help you. She also sounds very good and intuitive if she has triggered you to find the true sources of your anxiety and emotions around your eating...

I wish you only healing and love in recovery,

Wysteria Blue

Hey Girl!

Hang in there and just go with the flow like she said...sounds like she has something very positive in mind.. Perhaps you could journal a bit as to your feelings before, now and tomorrow morning or whatever and then also journal after the experience..that will probably be very enlightening and help you sort your thoughts a bit.

Again..just an idea...she might really be helped by seeing your journal from before to help look at your emotions and reactions and disordered thinking and help you see what might be triggering you...

She sounds very wise... I think you are very lucky to have her. Relax a little and trust in her experience to show you something wonderful in the end.

Hugs!!

I've eaten lunch with both my nutritionist and my therapist. They have both helped me stretch my boundaries beyond just the safe turkey on whole wheat with mustard. The first few visits I cried throughout the meal, but because they were so incredibly supportive, I was able to make it through and then even began to look forward to our "dates."

I totally agree with what Wisteria Blue said - relaxation techniques and writing in a journal should help alleviate the terror you're feeling to a large extent, but mostly this is a trust exercise ... trusting yourself and your nutritionist to guide you towards the path of wellness and joy. Please take that path - YOU'RE WORTH IT!!
Thanks for this!

Hey there crazydancinggirl,

Take off those dancing shoes and RELAX.....remember she said to eat before you came, didn't she?....don't overthink this! Just let it happen and trust that she has only healing in mind for you... You are going to be just fine. Let her see your journal or even call in the morning and let her know how anxious you are and let her calm you with some good information. She sounds just wonderful and she will take great care with you I'm sure!!

Soothing angel's wings over you..try to get some sleep...maybe some calming music or deep breathing will help you to rest peacefully...

Hugs...

Hey there, so what did the "supportive eating" turn out to be? I'm curious because my nutritionist wants to have lunch together, and I've been putting it off and putting it off. I remembered reading this thread earlier, and hope you have a clearer picture and can now help me
