This is probably going to sound strange... I'm picky about food to a crazy degree and I know it's definitely one of the things that started my anorexic tendencies. It's not just the taste of foods that I avoid, it's the texture as well. I can list all the things I eat on my fingers (unless you count each individual snack food) and they're mostly highly processed, bland foods that are really bad health-wise. My body reacts with dry heaving to most unwanted textures (to a lesser degree with tastes, though I still can't force myself to swallow), most violently to vegetables. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this or heard about anyone else who has?

How do you feel about the texture and taste of cottage cheese? It has protein, calcium, and calories to keep you going but it is still very plain.

It's kind of funny you should ask that! That's the last food I've added to my menu (about a year ago, was rice about a year before that, and before that pretty much nothing since I was 12)... though I can only eat about 3 or 4 bites at a time before the texture gets to be too much. I think I might be able to take some more if I can drain it first.

Recently I tried an organic cottage cheese. It is much thicker and less watery than regular cottage cheese. It is more expensive, but it sounds like you aren't going to eat much of it anyway.

((((((unfold))))))))) I can relate to some degree, and you're definitely not alone. Would you consider talking to a dietician to find out different foods you might be able to stomach or ways to prepare foods to help you?
