was trying to control it- and it did work for a few weeks, but now it's back and it's worse than it ever was.

*sighs*

I am sorry this is going on! Why does it seem like the more we try to control/heal from the issues, the harder it gets to do exactly that? I totally hear you and know where you are coming from...

I don't even know how to separate true hunger from emotional eating.

I have found that my DBT group therapy has helped me with my AWARENESS of my emotions & when I'm aware of my emotions, then I'm aware of my reactions to them.

Would suggest maybe that you find a place that offers DBT therapy or talk to your T about it. DBT was designed initially for BPD (borderline) but in all honesty.....it's just common sense skills that most of us never grew up learning from our parents because they probably didn't know the skills either.....so the messed up gets keep getting passed down from generation to generation.

DBT consists or basically 4 sections with the mindfulness/wise mind decision making repeated between each of the other 3 sections which are "emotional regulation" (the key for emotional awareness), distress tolerance, & interpersonal effectiveness.

All the sections have given me a lot of insight into past issues & definitely current emotions.....as I never recognized my emotions other than anger....what a surprise.

Just a suggestion as I know how much this type of therapy has helped me beyond any of what I wasted my time on for so many years before it.
