I suffer from psychotic disorder and Eating Disorder ADD and was wondering how others are dealing with it ?
I was on a few med for my psychotic disorder and it caused weight gain and I just can't sit and watch the scale go up .
My ADD pills have help me lose weight but , I was wondering if anyone else dose anything different ?
I have been a binge eater for many years before that I was Bulimia .

I do know when I eat low carbs my binge eating dose stop but I sabotage myself and go back to eating sweets , doc says it's my psychosis is to be blame for that .

My friend, first things first.
You are not your disorders. Youre disorders do not define you at all. That's a dangerous trap to fall into.
A while ago I suffered from psychosis with an ed. Are you on anything for the psychosis? Because that really can be draining.
You are not alone, my dear. You can fight this!

Hi
No I am not on any psychosis meds. I was on Risperidone 1 mg and the other one I was on Ablifly 10 mg . But I quit those pills because of the weight gain . and I told the doc. this plus didn't like the other side affects it was given me .

The only thing I am taking is Dextroamp- amphet er 20 mg daily for my (ADD ) . That is the only pill that seems to help me with my ADD and my weight loss .

But I am wondering if there is anything anyone else is taking or doing to help .

I called my family doc who gives me the pills for my ADD she seems to be better then the other doc. for my psychosis . He dose not seem to be listening to me . And I ask him to refill my ADD pills he said no . Hello I will gain weight 3 x faster if I am off them and just on psychosis meds. I was not having it .

I can binge eat as I do now and get away with it while on my ADD pills but if I am off them then I gain weight

I have Bipolar and an eating disorder. I quit taking Seroquel after 2 years. I could not tolerate the therapeutic dose for psychosis and still could not control the carb cravings and gained 20 lbs. I tried the following drugs for weight loss and could not tolerate the side effects, but some people have had good results so you might want to ask your doctor about these: Topomax and Wellbutrin.

I was switched from Seroquel to Latuda (weight neutral) and you have to take it with food, a minimum of 350 calories, so I take it with dinner. It makes 10% of people sleepy so you may have to eat again right before you go to bed and because of that some people say that they have gained weight while taking Latuda. I take Latuda with dinner because it does not make me sleepy.

There are a lot of weight loss products on the market and some appear on the Dr. Oz show, but I am tired of weight loss scams so I haven’t tried anything new. The only other thing I can think of is to drink green tea and lots of water. If you find something that works for you let me know.

I do not trust dr. oz I bought many pills from what he recommended and non of them
worked . Many years ago because I didn't want to see a doctor about my ed and so I bought Topomax on line I took to many and I was blind for one day and my face was very swollen never did that again scared me .
I took Wellbutrin years ago but it made me still binge .

I wish I like tea and I have tried I really have but I just can not drink it .
I do drink smoothies and I use to be able to starve myself got down to 100 pounds I loved it . I loved seeing my bones .

I wouldn't even know where to begin with psychosis .....I took prozac then Wellbutrin for my major depression & they both caused extreme weight loss that I couldn't & really didn't even want to control......got way down below the low healthy weight & was really sick with it....but the weight loss felt so good, I really didn't care.

I was on seroquel after my last time with anorexia because of the nightmares from the trauma I had just gone through at the same time....it had NO effect on my gaining any weight.....& I was on 600mg so I could sleep....only thing that would KNOCK ME OUT.....but it took over 2 years before I gained enough weight to be at the safe point again.

I stopped the seroquel when I finally left my bad marriage & started living alone because I couldn't function on that dose of medication.....so now I don't take anything & I'm OK......still deal with the PTSD issues, flashbacks & nightmares at times but nothing like it was right after the trauma & was in the medical hospital with the anorexia at that time also. Had to have IV nutrition because of the anorixia but didn't get as low as I had the first time that I was really sick with it.

Hope you find a good compromise with your meds......hmmmmm I think I would find another pdoc who is willing to work with your ADD meds....that should come from your pdoc so that he knows how to combine your meds to work together.....my MD & my pdoc worked together for the anorexia issues.....but it did come down to just my pdoc taking over the med care.

Don't feel alone. I'm anorexic and when I'm seriously starved I have hallucinations and my doctor gives me Zyprexa. It helps a little. Right now my brain is way out to lunch. I just accept it as a consequence of my eating disorder.

When I asked my family doctor is there any diet pills out there to help curb my binge eating she said no the only one that is strong enough is your ADD pills , and now of course she stop giving me the pills and wants me to go back to my Psychiatrist and have me on psychosis meds .
There not listening to me I have ED , he doesn't care all he cares is the stupid psychosis meds
that he keeps getting me to take .
I threw the last pills away and have not seen him for over a month !

I have been binge eating this whole week , I am going to put my foot down starting tomorrow
