I know that no one is able to actually give me a definite answer because no one is a professional, but I need an opinion on my situation. Throughout my life I have always been really short and skinny and I have always been the "smallest person". I have noticed I almost get jealous when people call someone else the smallest like I am not good enough for that title, Over the past few months I have started restricting what I eat so I can regain my "title". I feel like I'm just being silly but now I find myself completely obsessing over calories and trying every possible way to burn off the calories I have eaten.

Hi Kahlu, welcome to Psych Central. Sorry you are having eating disorder issues. Sounds like you are entrenched in an identity of being the smallest. I went through this kind of identity crisis and I had to reinvent myself to trying to be the most compassionate person by helping the most people I possibly could. What new characteristic could you identify with and start a new campaign to be the best you you can possibly be?

Many people who are actively involved in Psych Central find it helps take them out of their own problems to develop empathy for others. And their problems though still there are more manageable.

There are lots of compassionate people here that can make the load lighter by sharing and caring. Feel free to participate actively at Psych Central. Some people find the forums give them the compassion and empathy they seek. http://forums.psychcentral.com

Please feel free to private message me or any of the Community Liaisons by left clicking on the name in blue to the left of their post) for questions or just to share.
