I watched the Today show this morning and was shocked when they did a story on young girls with anorexia. And when I say young, I mean, like, 10 years old. This is crazy!! The idea of a child having an eating disorder just breaks my heart- I remember being a little kid and eating what I wanted without a thought- those were such good days. I can't imagine how horrible it would be to have to deal with this monster at such an early age- talk about lost innocence!!

With young children it has to be the parents not eating right or paying attention to what their child eats. They don't have outside sources to learn this stuff, not as many independent choices.

I think abuse often influences children to get eating disorders. Its not always about being taught to eat. I remember feeling i was fat at 9, 10. The abuse made me feel this way.

JenKat:
I also saw the show you are talking about and it was hard to see such young girls with an eating disorder. But I can understand how it happens, at 10 today is so different now than when I was in school and they see so much on tv and pictures in the teen magazines, they are the same kind that are in all the magazines that are for the
more adult people, and then in school Kids can be so cruel to each
other either by making fun of someone or not including someone or
making someone feel that they are different and don't belong. Then there is the whole abuse thing that could cause a eating disorder.
This is just my feelings on this subject.

i can. since i was 5, yup, 5. I have lied so many times saying it all just happened in high school, yeah not true, i have had it since i was a kid. Its hell. Imagine sitting there at snack time watching all the other kids eating ho hos and twinkies and not having a single thing. And being 19 years old now, and still not knowing what they taste like.
