So.. as a person with an eating disorder.. I come to you my friends for some wisdom.. some insite.. so hugs..and understanding..

I ran into an old friend of many years.. she is the Mom of my son's good friend.. they were friends for about 18 years..

She is 5'6 and 73 lbs...

I don't know what to do..she says she does not have an ED but attributes it to a sore jaw.. well folks..it is an ED..

She refuses to go get a feeding tube.. she had a heart attack last year..I don't understand why her husband and family do not insist.. I would get one for her involuntary..

So does that make me a hypricrite.. or the most loving caring person ever.. I love this person.. she is in immediate danger..this person.. lived across the street.. our lives interwined for years and years...

What can I do... I feel helpless.. I gave her this site.. the name of my T... and I am going to check on her.. I would be there constantly... but she doesn't want me there..

Should I pick up nutient drinks????

Oh Wow Free, this is a really hard one.

I had a friend in high school who was my anorexic buddy. I was always trying to help her even when I weighed less and needed the help more then she ever did. I think we can see in other ppl how much help they need, because we understand so well what they are going through. Just don't drag yourself down too much trying to help her. Sometimes we can lose sight of our own recovery in the process.

Just tell her how you feel. Get it out in the open and let her know your feelings. Let her know you understand.

And when it comes to her family. You know how good we are when we are protecting the control of our ED. Her family may not understand. We are good liars when it comes to food and our power to control it.

That's a pretty low weight...I can only imagine the damage that is being done to her body...seeing my former wife go in this direction and not seek help was very frustrating...It's a tough call...

I would think though this is a weight that something soon will happen and ER is were she will end up...praying that she survives it...there will be no doubt the doctors there will admit her...committing is a difficult one...I tried to get two people other than myself to commit my former wife...at least where I am...I was basically told unless she mentioned suicide...that they would not do it...

Stay close to her...you never know when she will say something that will allow you and her to talk further...
