I had a very traumatic child hood but was never diagnosed with PTSD, I don't believe I really had it.

About 2 years ago as a minor I was diagnosed with an eating disorder(orthorexia) although since that isn't in the DSM they just put in anorexia. I have always suffered with some other chronic health problems and pain(gastrointestinal) that affect my weight and interfered with my treatment/health because my psychologist/psychiatrist didn't believe me so I had no meds to treat it even though I had no history of abusing my meds whatsoever. He put me in the hospital I then was transferred to a Residential facility. I was treated horribly for a month in the hospital waiting on an open spot and then another month in the residential facility. I also have Adhd, autism spectrum disorder, sensory processing disorder, anxiety etc. a whole slew of other things that I wasn't accommodated for an was accused of faking. My family also hardly visited.
I am pretty sure I developed some sort of PTSD from this whole experience. I'm not comfortable talking to anyone my doctor, family, etc. They haven't been helpful in the past regarding my health. A few of the nurses at the hospital were great and a few of the volunteers at the residential facility were too but for the most part I was treated very bad.

In terms of recovery I pretty much made myself snap out of it after the experience I had knowing I never wanted a repeat. My disorder was also big on OCD. I am much doing better ED wise but suffer from pretty bad PTSD from treatment. and definitely am even less trusting than I was before.

Everyone is different so please don't take my experience as a reason not to go to a residential facility the hospital was far worse in terms of how I was treated physically, verbally, etc. Treatment for the right reasons on your terms is a great choice.

It's nice to meet you. I'm very sorry you had that experience.
