How do people seem to manage having food in the house without bingeing on it? For me, the only strategy that has been successful in avoiding bingeing and purging has been keeping trigger foods out of the house. But recently I've been bingeing on just whatever food is around. Since it isn't realistic to not keep any food at all in the house, how do you manage food being accessible when you have urges to binge?

Hi Catlovers141,
You pose such an important question. Sadly my English is not very good and in addition I lack helpful wisdom. Hopefully you will get many helpful responses to your post. I am so very, very sorry you are struggling! -- Yaowen |

I don't binge/purge BUT in order to keep some level of control & stay at a healthy weight, I have no junk foods in my house. I live alone so it is easier. Anything I want takes time to prepare or is frozen & packaged in single servings. After all day working on my farm I am usually so exhausted it is all I can do to prepare one of those single serving meals. But I am usually hungry so definitely have to eat. Lol...keeping food frozen helps because when I am hungry I can only prepare enough frozen food for one meal.
Don't know if this helps....but it is how I control my healthy weight now __________________ Leo's favorite place was in the passenger seat of my truck. We went everywhere together like this. Leo my soulmate will live in my heart FOREVER Nov 1, 2002 - Dec 16, 2018 |

Honestly, the only thing that helps me is to not have anything that I can binge on in the house. My SO is a huge munchie fiend with an enviably high metabolism so this a pretty big problem for me.
This method, even when I am successful in keeping binge food out, isn't always reliable though because when I get bad I could just b/p a whole loaf of bread with butter ( It hurts. :') ) Otherwise, maybe just trying to stay busy? Keep your mind occupied. Ride out the "roller coaster" of the binge craving. (Brain over binge is a really good book if you can find it <3 ) Stay out of the kitchen! Or in my case, away from the binge stash. |
