Do you ever learn to love yourself!I am currently attending appointments at an eating disorder service within the NHS, and that is soon finishing appaprently (didn't realise there was a time limit!) and I am worried that I will never get rid of the feeling of being disgusted with myself.

Wil I ever like myself? Does self-loating go away

Make friends with yourself as if you're someone else. You wouldn't treat another person like you do yourself would you? Let the judging and "outside" stuff alone, how you look, etc and just concentrate on thinking of things you like in a friend.

I use to play a game with myself where I'd pretend that my best friend was unconscious/under a spell and I had 15 minutes to figure out what would help her BUT the trick was I had amnesia, didn't recognize her, but merely had been told she was my best friend and would die if I couldn't revive her.

So, I had to figure out what someone would like, that they'd be friends with me? What do I like and what might we have in common, etc. The girlfriend I was thinking of when I played this game, the key was "music" which isn't a strong point with me in the traditional sense so it was more "enjoyment" of music that would link us (we use to go see Makem and Clancy in concert together :-) http://www.celticmp3s.com/magazine/2...by-tommy.shtml

But it was an interesting exercise to wonder why my friends and people who like me do. I always take my husband's word for what I'm "like" as I trust his judgment. So, when I'm feeling down I just ask him what about me he loves :-)

I feel the same. But I think with hope and preserverence we can learn to love ourselves inside and out.
