let me start off by saying that it isn't me with the eating disorder. my friend, however, didn't graduate with me last year because she was in rehab for her anorexia. i love that girl soo much, and i never once gave up on her. i always valued her friendship, but while she was in rehab, we lost touch. i haven't talked to her in so long, practically a year, but she contacted me, online. i just don't know what to say to her ... i want to say something, but i'm a loss for words as to what to say to an anorexic friend, who i lost touch with.

welcome.....

and... you are a very caring person for wanting to reach out... and wanting to say something.... what do i say ...

it is hard.... to know what to say to a person who has an ED... I guess.. having an ED... and having had a friend with an ED... I have experienced both sides of the whole issue...

May I ask... when she contacted you.... what was the "tone"... of her contact.... "depesrate"... or "hi how are you"... or " here I am.. and I have an ED"... it might help you to figure out what to say...

In general.... just saying "Hi"... perhaps... and "I have thought of you.. and wondered how you were doing"... might... be... a way to go...

or... I know I will most likely "take heat for this".... perhaps it may just be so uncomfortable for you.. that to do nothing is best for you.. - and I think that is ok too... practicing self-care.... what do i say ...

welcome again to PC... and to the ED forum...

when she spoke to me, she flat out said, "i'm in trouble, and i'm getting help, but i feel bad about leaving you without a word." i actually saw her yesterday. we saw a movie, so not much talking was involved. i wish we had talked though.
