I've got this friggin fat tire around my waist, i feel fine with myself pretty much everywhere else on my body except around my belly. it never goes away. i've lost just over 20 pounds in the past year making me 117lbs now but this belly is hard to hide.
how the heck can i make this go away? without starving myself?
any ideas?

luckyyouxx,
that can be one of the hardest places for women to slim down, because we tend to hold on to weight around our mid-section to protect our reproductive organs.

The best thing you can do is make sure you are eating enough (at least 1200 cals a day) and eat a diet low in fat, high in lean protein, and avoid alcohol.

Exercise will help that of course - cardio and weights. Spot reducing doesn't really work but crunches and ab exercises will build up your muscle......muscle burns more calories than fat.

Be patient as it can take a while of consistent effort so try not to get discouraged if you don't see immediate results.
Also, measure your waist to tell if you are getting results, because sometimes if you're building muscle you won't lose pounds but you will lose inches.

Most of all, don't be so hard on yourself. I'm sure you are beautiful just the way you are.....try not to compare yourself to the impossible ideals of society. Make it your goal to be the healthiest you can possibly be....you are worth it.

kt Waist - may trigger

(sorry - didn't mean to ramble on so long.)

Exercise is the only way to help any true fat around the waist but sounds like you just have "women's" insides; we're curvy you know, built that way. I don't think it's fat. We need some fat, it protects our vital organs and you can't get rid of that.

Thanks to everyone who has responded to my post.
I do excersize, it used to be 5 times a week but since wanting to recover from Bulimia I only seem to go once a week, max 3 times if I can fit it in. I was just wondering what specific excersizes or diets would target that middle area, as I've done crunches sooo many times over a long period but all it has done is build strong muscle, the fat is still chillin over it, with no muscle to be seen, only felt when i flex.

There is no way to 'spot-reduce' areas. Cardio is the only way to burn fat, but you can't choose from where on your body it will burn.

Try interval training - whatever exercise your do, such as running, do it really fast and hard as you can for 60 seconds and then slower for 1-2 minutes, and keep doing this for your entire workout. This works for any type of cardio - running, walking, bicycling, aerobics, etc.
