I was contemplating suicide today but I thought maybe a better idea would be to make some changes that i could decide on. Namely, losing weight, which I feel is something I can control.

It has already begun. I have done about 20 situps today and i was on a cross-training machine for about 4 minutes.

I think today I would have lost about 2 kilograms.

Let me check.

. . .

Yes, maybe 2 kgs so far according to my scales, although that could just be normal weight variation.

113kg now.

Target 85.

Well please don't harm yourself!!!

That being said, congrats on taking a step in the right direction. It shouldn't just be about the weight though, make it about your overall health. It will be more helpful to you that way. Weigh yourself no more than once a week, or else it gets really discouraging.

I managed to lose 40lbs the healthy way and am now studying to be a personal trainer. If you ever have a question feel free to PM me! Wishing you the best of luck!

A realistic weight loss goal would be 1 kilogram/week.

Good for you for wanting to improve your health. I am going to start working out when the anytime fitness gym near me opens.

What kind of diet do you plan to follow?

Maybe we could start a thread/social group here to support and motivate each other (if there isn't already one?).

Mine's more like 4 kilograms a week. I expect to lose most of it in the first month.

I plan to restrict my junk food intake to 10 dollars a day. I also plan to increase my excercise routine from no excercise to some excercise. I have moved the crosstraining machine into the TV room so I can lose weight while watching dr.phil.

Thoughts?

$10/day?! omg...*foaming at the mouth* only wishing she had a junk food fund, sometimes. But, it's ok, not having junk food, or much of it, in my home, is ok.

They key, to a weight loss plan, is maintenance, after it happens. (I lost 108kg, and it's been off, a whole year..I may flux about 2kg up/down during the course of a week/month, but I am one consistent weight--finally!!)

Some ppl watch calories and fat, I watch sugar counts and sodium intake...started when the government made dietary guideline changes, myself and two of my coworkers, started reading labels on everything! That's eye opening. http://www.cdc.gov/salt/pdfs/sodium_...guidelines.pdf

Did you realize, how much SALT is in DIET Sodas?! I don't go near aspartame anyways, by virtue of having MS(yes, that's a theory, but I know it leaves me feeling ill), but reading labels on various drinks is something else! If, the zero calorie drink, has a sodium count, I stand clear.

http://www.euro.who.int/__data/asset...083/E79832.pdf

I use the European guidelines, on sugar. I think American guidelines are a little more strict, but yet, we are the ones with the epidemic, eh? Less guilt, over an extra cup of coffee, is what this does for me!

I am also, one, to not use the scales very much, get a little obsessive with the numbers, and that does me no good. I judge by my clothes.

Hope, all goes well, for you!
Thanks for this!

Hi. I'm glad you're choosing a healthy goal over a destructive one. I have a goal to lose weight by September 2014. That's when I go to Ireland to visit in laws. I've found that when I eat smaller amounts it helps me not to be too hungry. Also, I want to be sensible and not crash diet my big vices are bread and chocolate ugh. But nothing tastes as good as thin feels.

OK this is embarrassing (for me this is, because)... you are a female right? Cause for men, the goal is to turn fat into muscle instead

I appreciate your outlook of working on things you can change to improve your life. however rather than put an amount to lose in a certain time that could set you up for feelings of failure if you don't meet it, can you just set the goal of being healthy and exercising to continually lose weight? good luck

You wanna lose 66 lbs in 2 months? This is not healthy and I don't mean be be negative but very unlikely. Like someone else said, 1-2 pounds a week is more realistic. Good luck.

My thought is you must be kidding us with your junk food plans. Why not watch Dr. Phil when eating the junk food - then you'll get garbage for your mind and your body at the same time .

I don't know what a crosstraining machine is, but high-intensity anaerobic exercise builds muscle and stimulates hormones, which is what burns fat. If you can do that while consuming visual entertainment, so much the better.

The only way, I can function, with weight loss, is to toss the scales. Hope your metabolism starts functioning for you, in order to start burning off, what you want burnt off.

i have figured it out. Whenever i feel like a snack i am going to eat an apple instead of fatty foods. So far this has worked really well, an apple is just as good for fulfilling my need to snack.
