I am starting the "Slim in 6" videos from beachbody.com because I want a lower impact easier fitness program. The "Start it up" disc is 35 minutes long. However when I did it, I felt like I could only go 15 minutes long. Is it ok that I can only do 15 mins now, and work my way up to the 35 minutes? I am just that out of shape and weigh 285 pounds. My feet were killing me. Am I a wimp? Should I have tried to go the full 35 minutes? Or should I be easy on myself and just say I did enough for now?

hi ... even 10 minutes a day would be a great start; the problem with trying to do more than this if you aren't used to it is you can end up with injuries which then prevent you from being able to do any exercise. Also ... if you haven't done it already; getting a checkup with a doctor before starting a new exercise program is a really good idea

with exercise it is great having a starting point then as you can do the 15 (or 10) more easily build on that ... either by going a bit longer or adding more intensity; go gradually though

another thing that can help is breaking the exercise up e.g. do 10 mins in the morning; then another 10 later in the day

great job on doing this

Thanks for the encouragement and praise! I needed that. Not finishing a work out video really was a let down. But it is more than I did yesterday! Which was zero... But thanks guys! I will try my best tomorrow...

Wow. I think you are doing well. I just started on the treadmill and elliptical last month and I could only do 10 minutes at first too. Good luck. I will be rooting for you. I think I will check out the videos too as there are days I can't get to the gym (like when we are snowed in!).

You're doing great! 15 mins is fine to start with then just slowly build your way up to doing more. Well done
Thanks for this!

15 minutes really is awesome! When you comfortably can do the 15, then push yourself to add 5 more minutes, and build up to the 35 over time. Keep it up, wishing you all the best!

Hi Krisakira. I think you should push yourself but not too far. Every day, try to do a minute more. The first time was 15 min and try to increase it by 2 minutes every 2nd day. The key is to take it slow but not get too comfortable. If you do, you will never go forward and you will be stuck on those 15min which is not your goal! the entire 35min is your goal!
