Has anyone tried prescription weight loss medications? If so, what kind and how did it work for you? If you stopped taking the medication did you maintain your weight loss or gain it back?

Meds for weight loss should be discussed with psychiatrist because might conflict with meds you are taking.
The most natural way to control or lose weight is to reduce calories, improve quality of food you eat, and exercise.

CANDC, thanks for responding but my question was not how to lose weight or who to consult. I don't have a psychiatrist or take psychiatric medications. I'm am curious if anyone had tried weight loss medications and how it worked for them. If you have taken prescription weight loss medications I would like to know what your experience has been.

A friend in Omaha is doing her hospital bariatric program that uses the New Direction Weight Loss System: http://www.jcmg.org/jcmg.nsf/web/New...iet-%28VLCD%29 (this is another hospital in the midwest describing it)
She's mid-300 pounds though and it's a liquid diet, etc. don't know about pills or commercial stuff (the New Direction stuff is only on sale to doctors/hospital programs). I guess if I were doing something like that I'd ask my primary care physician what they liked/recommended and/or I'd visit the 2-3 different places I could find closest to me and see how they impressed me, what they did, talk to customers coming out, etc. Reviews I've read of alli and from consumers, I don't like the side effects, would rather be overweight than take that :-) I get a lot of my online medical information from the Mayo Clinic articles: http://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-li...s/art-20044832
