Still holding at 198. Can't seem to get below it. I'll be interested in what my dietitian has to say about my food logs. And I know I need to start exercising. Now that the weather's nicer, maybe I'll feel more motivated to start walking.

splitimage, what are your favorite fruits and vegetables? Are you near a farmers' market to get fresh?

Hi Yoda, I like practically every fruit, except bananas which I can't stand. It's just expensive when out of season. Similarly I like most vegetables, and buying them frozen makes them less expensive. The only veg, I typically buy fresh are carrots, celery, and sweet potatoes.
Had a good meeting with my dietitian yesterday. She liked what I'd done with my food diary, as she said it made it very easy to spot patterns. She actually wants me to eat more daily, but it has to be fruits and vegetables. But she does want to see if I can cut my carbs serving down form 5 to 4 / day. It'll be a bit hard, but doable. And she's ok with me continuing to have more protein than the Canadian food guide recommends. And she agrees with me, that I absolutely have to start exercising. So overall I'm feeling pretty good about how things are going. |

I started walking and it really kicked my weightloss into high gear. I found a track close by that if you walked 3 laps it was a mile. I got up to 4 laps but then my back kicked into high gear too. Pain dr made me stop. I am still losing though but just slowly. Good luck hon!

my 5 lbs was apparently water weight. Still at a net loss but it is only 2 lbs. I'm up and down. Oh well at least it isn't a steady climb up. Long term goal is 70 lbs short term goal is any small step in the right direction.

Well May and so far the start of June have pretty much been a write-off. I relapsed beginning of May and pretty quickly escalated to daily drinking and alcohol has a ton of calories. Then when I started detoxing a week ago I was craving chips and ice cream and I just let myself eat what I wanted, to help get through the withdrawal.
So I've put on 3 lbs, and am back up to 201. This is better than I had feared at least. So starting Mon., I'm going back on the mayo clinic diet, and I'm going to try to force myself to start exercising. Getting back on track will be hard, I know. |

Back down to 198, and generally eating better, after a brief period of ice cream cravings. I see my dietitian in 2 weeks and I'd like to be down to 195 by then, just so that I'll have some movement.

Thanks htoun,
Haven't weighed myself since I last did - waiting for Wed. or Thurs. Fingers crossed, but my eating has been pretty healthy. splitimage |

Down to 196 today, so happy about that, and I picked up more fruit from the store, so I'm back to eating fruit more regularly. The biggest challenge is not binging on ice cream which I love.
And i'm still trying to motivate myself to start walking. |

I am almost down to the weight I acknowledge. I am short so I pretend that everything over 220 is a fignewten of my over active imagination.

Had another bad period where I overate on the ice cream front so I went up a bit, but I got that under control and have now dropped down to 195. Definitely going to have to add in exercise.

i can really relate to your process, SplitImage...
i have stalled at 187, and can't seem to get lower. my appetite has jumped up and gotten the better of me, too. i thought summer would be easier,, but the longer the day, the more i want to eat. it IS tough to tolerate feeling hungry, even if the mind might think it's not true~!. let's remember all the other things we can do besides eat, and walking must def. be one of those~! best wishes~~ |

Thanks everyone.
Had a meeting with my dietitian and told her that weight loss hadn't been a priority for me as I focussed on staying sober. I'm still at 195, so at least I haven't gone up. We both agree that I need to add in exercise. But on the plus side,I'm eating a lot healthier than I was when I first started seeing her. I'm now getting in 8-10 servings of fruit and veg. which is huge. And I've really cut down on carbs. I'm going to an IP rehab in 2 weeks, and will probably lose weight while I'm there, I always lose weight when I'm IP. Plus I think there's an exercise component to the program that might help jumpstart me. |

congrats. I know staying at 195 is frustrating but it is an achievement.
My life sorta went sideways so I haven't even weight myself in a while. I have been freaking out about an appointment tomorrow. It's my one year check. Last year they said they were pretty sure it was nothing but we would check again in a year make sure nothing has changed. It's a bit of a worry |
