May I join in on this thread? I would like a place to update my progress and share with others.

Long story short I was skinny until about 2 years ago, I gained over 100lbs and have an eating disorder. When I moved back here (NY) I lost 25 lbs but have stayed around the same weight since (around 200lbs) My long term goal is to get to a healthy weight for my height (5ft 3"). my short term goal is to break through the barrier I'm stuck at and enter the 190's.

I have a free membership to the local YMCA through my college so I am going to start going there beginning this weekend and walking on the treadmill.

Hope everyone is doing well with their goals

No bad heart or other problem that would explain him saying that. Had my third appointment yesterday. We are stretching muscles and get the tension out. So not pleasant but releasing the muscles will help me be able to move better and hopefully pain free one day. Greater mobility should mean I can lose weight someday.

I walked outside two days in a row. Just slow, and just 30-40 minutes, but theres some inclines, and boy do i work up a sweat. I walk out until stg starts to hurt even just a little! Then i come back home. I need to cream my feet tonight.

Everyone sounds so much more energetic than me. Congrats on all the exercise.

Well my legs are now black and blue in spots but it is different sort of pain. Much better than the nerve pain. She has me watching my caffeine and drinking more water. Only problem is that water makes me thirsty so now I have an appointment with the doc but not till the 29th. That and I seem to be retaining water. So I'm not even looking at my scale, can't deal with a 5 pound a day fluctuation.

Oh well what doesn't kill us will make us stronger after this and all the other stuff going on in my life I expect to be able to lift a Mac Truck by the end of this!

Hi everyone! I’m new to the forums and would love to be part of this thread. I’ve been exercising and dieting pretty consistently for the last 7 months, and have lost about 30 for the 40 pounds I had gained in the last few years.

My story: I used to run but developed achilles tendonitis and plantar fasciitis in both of my feet, so I was pretty inactive for about 4 years. Last winter I finally broke down and went to physical therapy for 5 months and it really helped with the pain and being able to do stuff. My feet used to hurt so much that even walking around a little bit or going out and doing stuff was hard, and I would be in a ton of pain after any activity. Once I was released from PT, I joined my local Y, and since then have been doing fitness classes there pretty regularly – 4-5 times a week. I mostly do Zumba and another dance-cardio fitness class they offer, and it has been so good not only physically but for my mental health.

I felt so uncomfortable and uncoordinated for the first bunch of classes, and it was hard because everyone there already knew each other and I was new and knew no one, but I’m so glad I stuck with it. Now I look forward to my classes every day, have gotten to know others in the classes, and feel like I’ve gotten pretty good at it. I also find myself listening to a lot more music and being more active throughout my day. Anyone else do Zumba or other fitness classes?

Well when I said better pain I lied! She had me doing stretches yesterday to lengthen and stretch muscles and tendons that are causing my hip mis-alignment that is causing my lower back pain and the pinched nerves. I keep stiffening up every time I sit. There were a few times in the last day or so I wonder what in the heck possessed me to sign up and pay actual money for this. Just have to keep repeating the end goal. A healthy pain free life. I just totally sucks that to get there I have to do this.

Well the pretzel positions are getting easier and I can even walk better.

I had my dr appointment today. I told them that my thyroid specialist was scarring me. She was shocked that he would tell me not to exercise among other things. She is running blood work and talking about getting a second opinion. Cross your fingers.

htoun, glad physio is getting better and you're seeing some results. Also glad your Dr. is thinking second opinion. You're thyroid doc doesn't sound all that great to me.

I had a set back. My pdoc increased my seroquel by 100 mgs, and all of a sudden I was craving sugar like crazy, so I was totally pigging out on ice cream. That lasted about a week. Have now stopped and am getting back on track. Don't know if I put on any weight, since my room mate took the scale when she moved out, and I can't afford to buy a new one right now.

Need to make an appointment with my dietitian again, but I'm a little bit afraid too.

If you microwave arctic zero brand fake low cal ice cream for 30 seconds, its actaully pretty good.

Cut yourself some slack and keep trying. You have been doing really well and will get back on track.

My thyroid dr doesn't sound to great to anyone anymore. The problem was when my thyroid, vitamins and minerals are wrong I have brain fog no motivation and can't even care. So when I can think I have to try really hard to stay there and thats when I notice things like my dr is an idiot. I looked him up, he has lost his hospital privileges in 2011 and he got certified in Canada in 1970 graduated from a university in Indian in 1962. I knew he was old but wow.

Next week I have two appointments for physo, she said we have to start cardo. I'm thinking this is going to hurt! It's really amazing how much of a workout she can get into a half hour session. Some days it's a wonder I don't seize up in the car on the way home. I just have to keep repeating "Healthy pain free life" over and over and over again

When I read what you wrote about your thyroid Dr. my thought was WOW this guy really needs to retire. Hope you can get a new thyroid Dr. through your GP.

Good luck with the physio and adding in cardio.

I have such a love/ hate relationship with the scale. You might be better without it! :-). As much as I tell myself that there are all kinds of things that cause the scale to go up (regardless of actual fat loss) it is still discouraging to see the numbers not go down or - gasp! - actually increase.

I haven't hit a new weight loss territory for a LONG time now. Even though I feel like my clothes are looser.

Saw my thyroid dr he really really scared me he seemed to lose his train of thought a few times and almost gave me prescription for 6500 thyroid pills. He scribbled out one of the zeros but too weird. There is also no dosage again.

Next day I saw the nurse. She is sending me to both a dietitian and a refusal to an new thyroid dr. I have decided that if this doesn't work I will go see a naturalpath. 20 years of thyroid problems is too much. Somehow this will get figured out, enough is enough

Well I finally got up the nerve to step on the scale. My room mate moved back in (long story), and brought back the scale. I only gained 2 lbs, so I'm up to 189. Happy I'm still under 190.

I'm going to let the diet slide a little, until the new year, although I won't go crazy. Then I'll get back on track with being strict with myself.

Sounds like a good plan. Hubby just made butter tarts. Christmas is a very very hard time to be watching your diet and sugar. I'm working on maintaining and doing my exercises

oh and congrats on staying under 190.

Seroquel made me crazy hungry too. I craved carbs constantly when I was on it. Pdoc ending up switching me to Geodon.
