I finally did it!! I've wanted to lose some weight for a while now. and it wasn't a sudden gain for me - just slowly over time. and half of that was cuz of injuries. but I knew I couldn't do anything cuz of my debilitating MI.

I was at the most I've ever weighed in my entire life, which only made things a little worse and harder. but I finally did it! and I'm so f-ing excited!!

I'm at a full 30lbs lost!! and in like five months, without adding or changing exercise stuff. just found something that is working for me. but can't believe no one around me as even noticed/said anything. [not even a word from the one person who kept making snide comments to me about it] only one person did, and it was a friend of mine that I hadn't seen in a year!

but I just want to celebrate, with people who know how difficult something like this is. so thanks and woohoo

well, what worked for me is not something I would recommend for others. but if you really want to know, p.m. me and i'll share.

so I decided my weight loss was 'a wave I'm gonna ride as long as I can', cuz it took so long to happen and who knows how long it will stuck.
SO.... as of this morning (for me it's still night time), I am actually now at like 42 lbs lost!!!!

Congratulations!

I lost weight when tapering off a certain medication. So I also "rode the wave" and got serious about my regular diet and exercise. That got even more weight off -- and felt like more of an accomplishment. It was also far better for my health.

But, yeah, the first part is not something I share with others. When asked, I just talk about the diet and exercise. Most people get funny when you start talking about psychiatric medications.

I totally get it, that's why I never really mentioned or talked about the psych meds I was on. I think I had both, one where I gained some weight and one where I lost a little, but that was so long ago now that it may have just been one of those and I can't remember which...

so in real life, I've actually only had one person notice my weight loss and that I talked to about it. that was because they were in the losing-weight process themselves and could relate. (no one else noticed/said anything, except I had one relative mention something like 'you getting skinny'- no idea if that was a question or statement and they never said anything else)

back to my point, my goal was to lose about 45lbs - which I had as my thought even before I started losing weight. well, I reached that goal!

and then you know what, I passed it!!! that's right, last time I checked (which was a few days ago) I was actually at like 51lbs lost!!!!!
and when I put on my pants which were almost falling off me, all I could think was 'wow look at me go'! (and basically no one to celebrate with)

Congratulations!

And when I lost a lot of weight over a year, I ended up at risk of falling down pants and shorts too. Belts only do so much before everything looks silly, so I had to buy a lot of new clothes. I discovered that meaningful weight loss can get expensive.

Congrats to you too!

for me, it was the other way around (for now)! having to get new clothes i.e. pants when gaining weight was expensive. i held onto my smaller jeans and shorts cuz i knew some day some way some how, i was gonna lose it.

plus i just took a drill to my leather belt and 'added' new holes so it would go smaller! i'm kinda handy like that

Can anyone who had weight loss on this thread PM with how you did it? I am at the heaviest I’ve ever been and dieting is not working for me. I also have an active job so I’m not sitting around eating twinkies 24/7 either.
