Why do protein shakes like Pure Protein and Muscle Milk have warning labels on them that warn you to use them as a food supplement but not to use them for weight reduction? I know sometimes they can cause increased hunger but if you do it correctly it can actually be very helpful for weight loss. I just had a 30 gram protein shake that had the warning label and I’m really full. Will it maybe make you use lose too much weight or something?

I would guess because they don't have the full spectrum of nutrients included. I did a real liquid diet and though sold to me as "all inclusive", I had to take a multivitamin and a potassium supplement with them.
Thanks for this!

My mom said it’s equal to using laxatives to lose weight. Which didn’t make any sense. Then she said “maybe I should try them.” 🤦 I know I got the cookies and cream ones today and I had one this afternoon and It was so filling I had to actually force myself to eat a 150 calorie can of soup for dinner a few hours later so I could meet my 1200 calorie goal. So I can see where they can become dangerous. I won’t drink one everyday.
