I have been addicted to an online game on my phone. I was on it 24/7 . it helped me escape from real life and I could talk to lots of real people on this game . recently people have turned against me on the game and have become really nasty to me. So yesterday I decided to uninstall the game because it was giving me too much anxiety . since I uninstalled it I am feeling suicidal and don't know how to get through each day

what kind of game is it?

(I don't mean go in to details,) but is it 1 of those games you can restart as someone else?. (RPG)

I play those sometimes, and when people start being annoying, I delete myself, then reregister as someone else, so no one has a clue who I was.

that might be a thought, if that's an option on your game

as for the addiction, what about setting goals?

using an example of a game where you have to I don't know.. defeat an evil dragon who has taken over a castle

so day 1 you say to yourself i'll get all I need for my quest (food, weapons, etc)

day 2 i'll find the castle

day 3 i'll work my way up to the top floor to find the dragon

day 4. i'll try (1 time), to kill the dragon

day 5. i'll try again (just once)

and so on until he is dead

if their's someone who runs the game, maybe you can talk to them about people turning on you and explain how you feel.

you don't need to get rid of the game completely
Thanks for this!

Hey crying
If you haven't already, you should reach out to someone and get some help with your suicidal thoughts. Distractions can be good but obviously are not long term solutions.
Do you want to tell us why you think you need such constant distraction?
Have you had suicidal thoughts before?

Hey. Thanks. Yeah I do have the option to create a new account and be annonumous, but it takes a long time to. Become established in the game and make new friends . and I don't know how to limit myself . I have no self control . its probably better i dont play it at all . now i need to deal with the suicidal feelings .

do you think the suicidal feelings have something to do with the fact you don't have the game?

in the original post, you said that i've stoppedp laying it and I feel suicidal

well my question: have you been before and just not noticing it?

or is it really due to the lack of the game

it does take a long time to establish yourself (trust me, I know!)

their's a game i've started like 50 times over, but what I tend to do, is act new, but also act like i've been on the game before and it makes it easier in a way

your social worker says only you can help yourself? That's not true, other people are instrumental during the process of healing your psychological issues.
Anonymous confidants like us here play an important role but you also need a professional to help guide you through the maze that is the mind.
Social workers are usually not qualified enough for this task, you should find a psychoanalyst/therapist. If you keep an open mind you will begin to recognize the motivation behind self-effacing and self-harming behaviours.
You can figure this out crying!
Thanks for this!

Playing the game constantly was a big distraction from my feelings . I probably was feeling suicidal already but the game masked my feelings . I was living in fantasy world and not in reality . reality is too painful for me . but yeah it is really hard for me not playing that game . I might try and find another game I enjoy playing . maybe one that's less addictive

Thank you and I also agree with you . there are sometimes a need for others to help initially before being able to help yourself . I wish my social worker understood this too

I'm sorry I think that is wrong!! This woman should not have been hard on you (imho)

Everyone deserves support, MI issues are not your fault!

About the game, I don't really deal with addiction issues so this advice may be sub optimal
(but not as sub optimal as the social worker's "advice" )

Actually I'm too grrrr right now to write more here as this "professional" reminds me of a GP i once made the mistake of attempting to talk to ..

I think a therapist would be better equipped to help and support you... these sort of blaming and inane platitudes which the social worker used help nobody

Maybe spend a bit more time on pc? Most of us here don't bite

Lol. Considering I am really depressed , your comment made me laugh . what you said is so true though . they get paid plenty of money then turn around and tell their patients to help them selves . she looked around my flat and told me I need to tidy up my flat and buy furniture . yeah I would of tidied up if I wasn't suicidal and unable to leave my bed . and as for my lack of furniture , I don't have the money to buy any right now and not really her business unless she wants to get me a grant to buy some . she also emplied I was letting my children down by not getting better and not going out . as if I chose to be unwell . my children do not live with me but I have contact with them . I can't believe she brought my children into this . I already have to suffer not having them live with me because of my mental health . it amazes me that some professionals act as though we chose to have MI and that it is our own fault

I'm that my ps made you laugh

Grrrrrrrrrrrr at her. Is it possible to fire her and/or make a complaint?

Either way, we're here for you

Sometimes I wish I'd made a complaint about a couple of sub optimal "professionals" (irl) - I suspect it wouldn't have done much good and may have harmed me... what a ****ed up system, it makes me so angry

It makes me wonder what they learn during their "training" .... how best to "serve" the beurocracy (sp) grrrrrrrrrrrrr

Safe hugs to you

First and foremost, don't hurt yourself. You'll just end up feeling worse about yourself. Let me know if you need to talk to someone.
