if youre into anime then you know about mobage, or japanese mobile games. mobage typically include gachas as part of the game, allowing you to collect certain items and “roll” in the gacha. what you pull from the gacha depends entirely on luck and the box’s drop rates. yes, this may just sound like a fun feature they add to games, but i feel like its causing me to develop a gambling addiction.
ive been playing these gacha games for years, ever since i was a young teenger, and ive spent probably around $4000 on all my games combined. i would spend all the money i got on it, even though i never had a job. sometimes i would steal money from my parents hoping they wouldnt notice. their wrath was worth the rush i get hoping and praying i get the item i want on my account. recently ive started college and moved into a dorm with my boyfriend. hes always telling me about how hed to anything to make me happy, how i can buy whatever i want with his debit card and he’d be fine with it. of course i took advantage of that. many times. so much his mom was calling him asking why he was spending so much. i need to put an end to this, but these games are my life. how can i prevent myself from making anymore bad decisions without sacrificing my games? |

My suggestion would be simply to find a mental health professional (a therapist or a psychologist) you can work with on this if you haven't already done so. Addictions of any kind can be difficult to handle on your own. Perhaps there is some form of 12 step program you could join?
Here's a link to an article, from Psych Central's archives, that offers some do-it-yourself suggestions for beating an addiction: 12 Ways to Beat Addiction Hopefully other PC members will yet have other suggestions to offer. Best wishes. |
