I am very honoured to be able to contribute more to the community here at Psych Central!

This is the place to ask any questions relating to mental health, such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, Bipolar, schizophrenia, dissociative disorders, OCD, general mental health issues and also relationship issues, careers, issues around abuse and psychotherapy. As I do not pretend to know everything it would be fabulous to have other member's contributions and thoughts also.

Thank you!

I can see this general forum having the most difficult questions -- are you sure you want this, peg?

Thank You,
I have been feeling a bit anxious and nervous over the last few months and did not know what some of the physical things i was feeling until I realized that some of my symptoms are related to stress and anxiety. Over the past year my father passed away after an illness, a daughter of mine has been battling with a medical ailment for 14 month now and the medicines are taking it's toll. Just 2 weeks ago my best friend and business partner suffered a minor stroke, he is on the mend but I was and am afraid for him also. Also I constantly worry about money. I have been self employed for 26 years and have had my ups and downs. I guess everything just caught up with me at once. I feel more in control now than a few months ago, but not where I want to be.

Hello scoop, nice to meet you.

Sounds like you have been through an awful lot of stress recently and grief is so hard too. You'll find lots of support and understanding here on the forums, have a look around and post where you feel comfortable. Welcome to Psych Central.

It really has been eye opening, for myself, over the past several years, learning the connections of emotional health and physical health.
Welcome to PC, I hope you are able to find support you need.
Sorry to hear of your father. It's tough losing a parent, my mom passed several years ago. I knew, then, I needed to monitor my own stress levels, as I've my own illness that exacerbates with stress.
Hope your daughter is ok?

Thanks so much, Pegasus, for this new forum. I have posted a question to something I have been concerned about. I know there probably won't be easy answer. But I am wondering what to do about such a dilemma.

i might as well post an update. the schizoaffective has been under control because of the psych meds for quite awhile now, with only the rare flare-up that happened about a year ago. the OCD still pops up it's ugly head fairly often however. is there any med that will control OCD? i've been hoping for one for years.

my wife and i have been doing great for quite awhile, and we are very happy at our new place in the countryside just outside marion, virginia. we are getting along better than we have in a very long time.

Hello philbee, good to see you!

OCD is often a way of making anxiety feel safe so I would say an anxiety medication might help or therapy to learn to cope with the anxiety.

I am new to the site and I am not sure if this is the right forum/thread. I have recently started marriage counseling with my husband. Our therapist is male. I believe I am having erotic transferrence issues and I believe it's best to terminate the therapy relationship and look for another. I am considering terminating via email. I have read that the proper thing to do is let my therapist know. However, I do not trust myself to do so in person. Also, on the phone I feel I may bumble out my thoughts about him. Any advice on how to terminate?

Hello Alexis, welcome to Psych Central. You can send an email or write a letter. Maybe you could let the office manager know instead if there is one. I think in this instance that you are right to terminate as it is couples counseling and you don't need that sort of transference as an added issue. Good luck!
