Hello all, I'm trying to learn more about hypnotherapy -- what it is, what it can do, how it works -- because I am wondering if it's a viable option for me. I have a good friend in New Zealand who's a hypnotherapist, and I've just messaged him on fb asking for his advice on whether or not it's a good idea for my situation. Basically, I am very upset and depressed all the time, but if you asked me why, I wouldn't be able to tell you the reason. For the past few weeks, my mood, although not great, has been relatively stable (no wild mood swings or manic episodes). Honestly I have thought for a very long time that there is a lot of stuff bottled up inside me that I can't access for some reason, and I really think that if I did this and got it out, I would be a much happier person and would be able to function better. I'm just a bit afraid of what I will find, because I really don't remember much of my childhood, not until after age 10. If anyone has experience with this kind of treatment, could you tell me about it and what your experiences were? Or whether or not you've had it, could you offer your thoughts about it? Thanks in advance

I have had hypnotherapy. It wasn't the age regression kind we see on TV. But I just got into a very relaxed state--and it did help me to get in touch with some unresolved anger and gave me some insights.

My therapist was trained in hypnotherapy, of course.

I did a little bit of hypnotherapy work with my therapist years ago. It helped with relaxation. I've heard people swear by hypnotherapy for treating various problems.
Thanks for this!
