A therapist would be a good place to start, or if you prefer you can discuss it in one of the appropriate forums here. I'm sure you will get some support and ideas.

Hello buckman52, welcome to Psych Central!

That realisation can be the start to your healing. Yes, seeing a therapist would be a good idea, as a child we hold the hurt and that can continue into adulthood unless we seek support for it. Please keep sharing here on the forums also, it a self-help resource and you can share with others that understand and have been there too.
