So I'm supposed to see a counsellor soon (after I finish getting some other medical tests done for other issues) and at the moment I'm a little worried, I'm not sure if I should mention SI or not? (Is scratching even considered SI?) I was being referred to a counsellor originally by my doctor for major fidgeting and anxiety/paranoia. So should it be mentioned? (Is it even SI?)

scratching is si...it just isn't as harmful as using razors but could accelerate to that if it persists. it is something you should tell the counselor about. I know it is scary but it is not something he/she wouldn't have heard before. it is very common. they can only help you if you are honest with them. si is a coping skill you use and they need to know how you cope so they can teach you new skills. good luck and take care.

I agree with kaliope it would be best to be as honest with your T as possible. This helps them develop the best treatment plan for you.
Best wishes ![]() ![]() |
