basically my problem is stated in the title.
Whenever I drop my pencil, eraser, paper (whatever it is) and I look like I'm about to cry. My lips quiver and people notice this too. I don't know why I do this... Does anybody else do this? It makes me seem so dumb.... Edit: and it's not like I'm actually going to cry. There are no tears. I kinda just 'automatically' do this.

Hi, it sounds like there's some anxiety either not recognized when you drop things, or fear of the unwanted attention?

i don't think it's the fear for unwanted attention. maybe it's anxiety but i have no idea. I never realized i ever did this until one of my friends pointed this out (thats when i started noticing that i did this from then onwards). And i have no idea how i stop doing this cuz it just kinda happens.

Well, people have pointed out things I did and caused me to be more self conscious, which wasn't good. Is this something that really bothers you now? It's not shameful!

Questions (if you don't mind):
-How often are you really dropping things that this has become a serious issue/concern for you? -If someone else dropped something in your immediate vicinity - would the act of watching those circumstances play out evoke the same response from you? -Did you ever experience any incidents in your younger years when you dropped something that was important or valuable? Any type of embarrassing situation concerning dropping something in the presence of others?

2. i don't think i do this when somebody else drops something. 3. I know i have dropped a lot of things like plates and vases and my mom would yell at me a lot but I don't remember any particular event right off the bat (there might've been an event that might've caused me embarassment but i dont remember atm). I would suggest doing some Cognative Behavioral therapy to try to understand what thoughts are going on before it happens.
