Hi guys, currently on a 28 day section in the uk.
I stopped taking my medication as I'm worried about mind control so the doctor has prescribed a depo. I really don't want to take it but by law they can force medication on me. However it's been a week and nobody has tried to force anything and im sitting in my room panicking in case they suddenly force me. Maybe they won't force me or maybe they're waiting?
If I refuse treatment do you think they will keep me in longer or say there's nothing else they can do and send me home? Worried to ask them myself, just gonna live out the month and see what happens?
Any opinions/advice appreciated, thanks.

It sounds to me as though you were taking the wrong medication to begin with.

I do not know UK laws but I feel strongly against forcing anyone on meds unless they are a threat to themselves. Don't you have some friends or family to help? Second opinion is always good and changing meds could help!
wish I could do something but it is hard from California!

When my step son was forced against his will by the courts to be hospitalized he refused meds and they let it go for about a week before forcing him to take it in a weekly injection. He got out a month later but was still under the courts rule and had to take the weekly shots for 5 more months.

Welcome to PC (psych central)

I don't know the laws of UK. I would imagine that they would keep you until the paranoid thoughts decrease. If you are not causing a disturbance on the ward they probably wouldn't force the meds, but that's just my opinion.

You might want to examine your fears of mind control more thouroghly. To my knowledge, meds don't give someone control of another's mind.

Hi guys thanks for the replies.
Turns out that they can force the injection if you are on a section, regardless of behaviour on the ward.
It is also looking like the longer you refuse the longer you have to stay, to prevent non compliance in the community I guess? This is going to be a long month ..
Thanks for reading
