I'm just curious how easy it is for some of you to get a hold of your Pdoc if you need to? If you have a question? Or are having an issue? I guess I'm looking to see what's "normal."

Different pdocs I've seen have had different schedules / availability etc, this is for me, personally.

The one I am currently seeing has a receptionist that I ring direct to schedule appoinments with; but even the hours of being able to ring the receptionist are limited.

I guess the only conclusion I can summise then if it was more serious and needed extreme attention she would expect me to move on to more swift appropriate care?

My phone messages; if not returned on the day; are certainly returned the next day.

I've had Pdocs that gave me their number.
Most have office staff or a call service after hours.
The one I have now is part of the community clinic so if it's after hours their a crisis number. You tell them you have a clinic doctor and a nurse will talk to you and make a note for the doc. If it's an emergency they would probably tell me to come down to the psych ER to be seen by a on call doctor. I can call during office hours and see if I could get an appointment sooner or do a walk in.

I think what's normal is dependent on where you live and if it's public or private service.

I call and talk to my PDoc's Gal Friday. She asks if I need an appointment or want him to call me. I usually pick the latter and he gets back to me by that evening. I'm sure it would he would call sooner rather than later if it was urgent. I haven't tried calling him after hours in a long time, so idk how that would work.
