I started prozac two weeks ago. The first 10 days I was depressed, mood swings, crying spells. Then I felt a lot better. My psychiatrist is increasing it to 40mg and I want to know if I'll have the same side effects? Or is the bad part over?

I had a similar reaction when I started Prozac, I was a disaster. I started at 10 mgs and went up to 20. I didn't notice any additional depression or anything.

I was "touchy" the first 2 weeks but then mellowed out and stayed there. Although, not sure if it matters it was a generic brand of Prozac so..I think you should be fine to up it. Could ask your Dr though

Wow, i think your doctor is being rather cavalier. For me, 30 is not enough and 40 is too much - my head feels cold (weird, i know! This side effect is not reported anywhere!). I would say to remember its your body, ultimately your responsibility.

I started on 20mg but moved up after a couple of weeks to 40mg. I was feeling pretty bad on the 20mg but after a week on the 40mg I started to feel dramatically better.

I hope the change in dosage has helped and hasn't caused you any problems!
