I was on 20mg of prozac for 2 weeks, during that time I had mood swings, anxiety, crying spells, depression and then it cleared up. My psychiatrist just increased my Prozac to 40mg 2 weeks ago and it didn't do anything until now. Now I am feeling so much more depressed than I did. I have no motivation and lethargic. I'm having crying spells but the depression seems worse. I also feel kind of sick in my stomach and I am really tired. Is this normal? Am I getting accustomed to the dose? Is this too high a dose? I feel better now but still feeling the symptom. Is this going to end?

I started taking anti-depressants 3 weeks back. Usually, if the dosage is strong enough, it will make your condition way worse that it was before. It happened with me. I did even wish I didn't take medication in the first place. But after like a week or so, things got better slightly. Now it's been 3 weeks and I could notice a remarkable improvement. I am still depressed but at least I can do some social activities every couple of days. So your case should be fine and expected. However, you should inform your psychiatrist about this. I am not a doctor, I am just sharing a personal experience and the knowledge I have from reading the leaflet that comes with my medications.
So cheer up! Things should get better soon!

Hello Valerieanne77, your psychiatrist sounds very good to me, he has been gradually adjusting your medication, eventually you'll get to the right combination for you. Keep in contact with your psychiatrist and let him know how you are doing.

I am hesitant to offer my opinion because everyone reacts differently to medication. That said, it sounds to me like the dose is too high for you. If the dose was correct, I do believe you would feel an improvement in your mood.

And...I'm just realizing that this post is several days old. Have you spoken with your p-doc, Valerieanne77? How are you feeling now?
