Are tremors normal? I think it is from one or more of my medications.

Sometimes the tremors are bad enough I can't use my cellphone without difficulty. On several occasions they have been bad enough to affect my ability to write.

Lithium, Lamotrogine, Abilify, Seroquel, and Metformin (off label to curb weight gain)

Yes, ask your doctor. I had hand tremors caused by Saphris so my doctor prescribed Propanolol to help get rid of them and it worked.

It's a known side-effect of Abilify, and it's one you're supposed to tell your doctor about right away. Call him or her and leave a message if you have to. Don't let it wait.

Tremors can occur for so many reasons. I've had a fine tremor since I was a child...it could be genetic, but once a doctor suggested that it might be the result of having had a high fever when I was a little girl, due to Scarlett Fever. So basically some brain damage.

My niece was born with some neurological problems, including epilepsy, and has had a pretty severe tremor since she was tiny.

Psych meds - most of them cause us to tremor. If your tremor interferes with your life (and they usually do) there are medications to help stop the tremor.

I have really bad tremors but I also have seizures and some other medical issues like lupus and pulmonary fibrous. With the PM I have to do a lot of breathing treatments which increases the tremors. My neuro doctor gave me a good med to help with them. It is very impressing to get them when you are out in public so call your doctor ASAP.

Good luck

Lithium gave me tremors but they went away after I got off Lithium. I wasn't toxic. It was just a side effect for me.

I get tremors if I am extremely anxious. I've had people say "you're shaking" and I just say I'm jittery from coffee. xo

Lithium gave me fine tremors, I was hopeful that when I went off Lithium they would go away.. The majority has but I still get them and it really pisses me off .

I see that you're taking two anti-psychotics, so I'm wondering if you've been taking anti-psychotics for a long time (15 years+)?

I ask because I have parkinsonism, a condition that manifests in tremors caused by long-term use of anti-psychotics (I'm currently taking Seroquel).

Most of these meds I've been on for less than 3 years.

By the way, I DID see my doctor. I didn't even have to ask him about it, he saw them for himself. He says it is the lithium.

thx everyone

I get tremors sometimes too. I think it's my Abilify doing it. I get them in episodes that last a few days then it subsides. I notice that drinking caffeinated beverages like diet coke exasperates the shaking. So does stress. In fact I am quite shaky right now due to drinking some diet Pepsi.

Should I tell my pdoc?

I sometimes get them bad enough I can't write or type into my cell phone. I even find it at times hard to type out my posts. All sorts of extra letters appear. I am in the habit of grabbing my knees or thighs when I'm in public. I even 'sit' on my hands all to hide or control the shaking.

Probably would be advisable to speak with your doctor to rule out health issues. I have MS, and had mentioned some issues I was having with my arm. More occassional involuntary muscle contractions. He mentioned motor seizures. As seen, already through this thread, there's a variety of reasons for this, so yes....talk to your doctor.

I have quite the physical difficulties,
Including Tremors (genetic, my father has them.)
Breathing problems (not bad enough to worry over however, just times It feels like my lungs and throat tighten, causing lack of air.)
Small muscle spasms (could also tie with Tremors.)
Some type of eye problem. (Making them extremely sensitive.)
I would suggest you speak to your doctor about this, like many others have suggested.

If I were to encounter such monsters, I would likely be eaten by them... because in truth, I am that monster.

Well folks I have tremors today in a major way. It's not from medication. I have lost some confidence lately; been majorly confused, and questioning a friend. I called them on it this morning. Naturally they denied it but I still feel they have gone behind my back. I worry they are talking about me too. I am shaking so hard I can't reply to texts on my phone right now - I can't even hold it. Just typing this is quite the feat. I'm afraid I lost a really good friend on one hand, on the other I question whether our friendship can continue.
