Im looking for profesional help but I dont know the difference between therapist, psychologist and psychiatrist, does each one has a different approach with their patients? And how can I choose one?
I mean to choose one that would help me the most cause the last mmm psychologist I believe, I attended, didnt helped me that much and I feel both of our time was wasted.
Also approximately how long does it takes to them to have a diagnosis?
I know its kind of hard to answer this last question but I want to know how much should I see one until they can tell me more about my situation and how to proceed.
Thanks

A Psychiatrist can prescribe drugs.
A Psycologist is usually used to learn C BT and other therapies.
It depends on how much information you give them as to how they can diagnose.
There's a test. I think it's called Beck. Maybe you can look it up, fill it out and take it to Dr appt.

As Ocean said, a psychiatrist can prescribe meds while a psychologist or therapist cannot. A psychologist has had more formal training than a therapist. Therapists can't formally diagnose. As to how long it might take, it really depends on who you're seeing and what your issue(s) are. This can take anything from a couple sessions to quite a few more. The more open you can be with them, the faster you should get a diagnosis.
