i was wondering if someone could tell me how to convert these percentiles to a iq number that i can understand...?
i was nervous and didnt think to ask the psychologist before i left the office... i have the report of course.. i just dont understand these percentiles.. working memory index score 83 (13th %ile) processing speed index 81 (10th %ile) verbal comprehension index 105 (63rd %ile) perceptual reasoning index 96 (39th %ile) i did alot of other tests too so i dunno if they involve testing the IQ.. but from what i understand the WAIS is an IQ test and should be able to tell me what my iq is right? weather i have IQ of 60 or 100? im just curious to know how bad my brain is... edit: i have tried to call him a couple times but he's hard to get in touch with if not impossible on the phone... the assistant says she'll tell him we called and blabla...

example if 100 people in my age bracket with the same problems I have took a test and the score was 50. that means I am right in the middle. (50 people age braacket 25-40 with my same problems scored lower than me and 50 people aged 25-40 scored higher than me) some percentiles work with higher number means you scored low and some higher percentiles mean you scored high. depending upon which chart they are using. example if I scored 83 percentile on some charts that means I am at the top of the list like scoring in high school where you aim to score 100 points is thehighest and best. where as on other charts that means Im lower part of the list if they are considering 1 to be the highest and 100 the lowest. see what I mean only your treatment provider can interpret what these scores mean in your situation because only they know what kind of percentile charting system goes along with the exact test numbers \versions\ and such you took. my suggestion contact your treatment provider, they can help you to understand what your scores mean in relation to your diagnosis, age, culture and other issues that have to be considered now. |

I looked at my kids' IQ tests to try to answer you, but 2 of them took the Wechsler Primary and Preschool test, and the one who was tested by his school took the Wechsler for Children.
The percentile rank on the Children's test is: 25-74% Average 75-90% High Average

It's not clear how they came up with his final score. Actually, they gave him 2 scores, Reading Composite and Math and then a WISC-III Full Scale IQ score not exactly averaged between those two scores.

Those percentages you have are top 10% - 63% (you are in the top 10% - 63% of all tested), I think.

No, you're not a moron. If the test caught some kind of focusing or processing disorder that's good for you to know.
