I 'm on the older side and have no idea what trolling is. Can someone explain what it means.

Thanks for asking that question, otherg. I'm your age and I too am confused by terms such as "trolling and catfishing". Not to mention some acronyms I've learned along the way.
Thanks, Rachel, for posting the answer. And special thanks to Amon and fishin' fool's welcome humor. |

Then maybe you'll want to visit the meaning of abbreviations/acronyms in Tutorials & How-To's thread in the Community Feedback & Technical Support Forum. There's lots of answers for questions like that in that location.

yeah, you should probably read the 3 billy goats gruff. lol that has trolls in it and he lives under a bridge but to make it clearer (back to the actual original thread), say if you ran a forum for a football team you liked, and then people came on the site constantly saying they were a rubbish team, or saying that they knew nothing about football, that's a form of trolling trolling is not the same as spamming spamming is when someone comes on a site to advertise stuff (holiday homes, 3 memberships to online cacinos,) anything that's just not appropriate. |

Or the newest one is called Click Bait. Where less than truthful sites toss up less than truthful information guised as a newsfeed. They get clicks which advertisers want to see happen.
Which is funny because a friend and I were chatting about a what's this in triplicate where the site mentioned a famous actor moving to someplace local. Further along I did find trolling behavior in one comment section. That's where the person took the community and took the fantastical headline and let loose hateful remarks. See that a ton where I am. The internet can be a free for all in bashing despite the less than anonymous accounts. Gives new meaning to mud on one's face, but it is what it is. Or Shannon Sharpe or someone using his own twitter, went "trolling" on a Patriots board the night that Denver won an important game. There was a screen shot in the released media. |
