There are definitely people on psych central who are on Haldol. In my experience if a psych drug is working for you, stay on it. All psych meds seem to work for some and not for others. You might find more information on the psychiatric meds forum here at psych central
Thanks for this!

In many hospitals, Haldol is still used as the first line if treatment for those suffering from a severe psychotic break, bc it is fast acting and has a sedative effect that helps with aggation and anxiety...esp. if the cause of break is unknown/ first episode. Some are switched to a newer, less sedating AP once dx has been established and symptoms have started to subside, but if it is working and the side effects are tolerable...then it is generally best to stick w/ a working med as another may cause complications or reemergence of symptoms. Also it is one of the few APS that can be given by monthly injection, which is very convenient for some, and helpful to not have to remember to take daily.... I have struggled to find any med relief for most my life..still do...so IMO, you are blest and if it ain't broke...

Please go and see your doctor if you are not happy with your medication.

It is an older anti-psychotic, if it suits you and works then all good but there is no harm in talking with a doctor if it worries you.
