Hi Cha360, what was the TV show about? May be there was something in it that has triggered your thoughts.

Hello Cha360: I see this is your first post here on PC. So... welcome to PsychCentral… from the Skeezyks! I hope you find the time you spend here to be of benefit.

Yes, what you wrote happens to me occasionally too. I try to avoid watching things that trigger me. But inevitably, once in a while, I stumble into something that really affects me. I don't know as I have any particularly useful suggestions for you. In my case, the simple passage of time seems to take care of most of it. Beyond that I simply strive to accept what I'm feeling... with compassion & lovingkindness. It is a Buddhist practice which is referred to as "compassionate abiding". (You can search this on the internet if you're interested in the process.)

PsychCentral is a great place to get information as well as support for mental health issues. There are many knowledgeable & caring members here. The more you post, & reply to other members’ posts, the more a part of the community you will become. Plus there are social groups you can join & chat rooms where you’ll be able to connect with other PC members in real time (once your first 5 posts have been reviewed & approved.) Lots of great stuff! So please keep posting!

Welcome to the forums, Cha!

What was the show about? There are certain triggering things I avoid on shows and movies due to traumas. Is this happening to you?

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
