I am currently taking Lexapro (escitalopram), 10 mg, and Abilify (aripiprazole), 6 mg, basically for depression and anxiety (present diagnosis... Mood Disorder NOS). My psych Dr. thinks I should go up on the abilify but I don't want to because in the past, on higher doses, it has caused my anxiety to get worse (and strangely made me feel more 'out of it'). She has also suggested changing meds from abilify to latuda. But I don't really want to take another antipsychotic because of side effects. I'd like to know... has anyone with depression, anxiety, and a mood disorder had their anxiety relieved by taking a certain medication? (Other than Benzos and Bipolar meds that cause weight gain). Thank you.

I was on meds for 13+ years until the side-effects got so bad I couldn't take it any more. Surprisingly, when I went off meds, I felt sooo much better, I couldn't believe it as the meds were causing so many side-effects including anxiety and depression.
Look into the use of amino acids to control your anxiety. I believe that those of us with anxiety issues and mood disorders aren't able to produce adequate neurotransmitters so we need to provide them via taking amino acids. I've been using them for over 9 years now to control my bipolar 2 with great success. If my mood shifts up or down, or I'm overly anxious, I just take the amino acid for that issue, and get feeling better within a few hours. Here are a couple of articles on the subject along with a brain function questionnaire showing the emotions and feelings associated with he different neurotransmitters: http://www.joanmathewslarson.com/HRC...for_relief.htm Anxiety and targeted individual amino acid supplements: a summary - everywomanover29 http://drjolee.com/Brain-Function-Questionnaire.pdf

Abilify makes me feel numb. Which was a good thing when I was horribly depressed. But after recovering from the depression, I was taken off it and that let me feel more good emotions. On the other hand, I have been super anxious lately. The Abilify might have helped with this.

Adderall helped my depression, anxiety, ADHD and insomnia all in one. I should probably go back to my doctor and talk about going back on it. That and weed. Other than that, any other medication always made one of my disorders/illnesses worse.

Latuda and Trileptal have helped ease my severe depression and anxiety. For me, Abilify caused anxiety.
