I'm thinking of joining at 17 for four years… over college and just get an online bachelor's degree. Would this be possible? Any thoughts opinions and advise would be greatly appreciated.

My brother is a Marine. You'd have to ask my brother for details. I know his training was tough and he was extremely homesick. If you're going to the military, I'd shoot for the Marines. I feel they are a step above the rest and chicks love Marines. Don't go into the Air Force. Marines pick on them and say things about them that I can't say here.

You know we're at war, right? I dont think you get a lot of free time in the army. I think they pretty much own you. If you come back alive and without a traumatic brain injury, yeah you get money to go to school, its called the GI Bill. But i dont think people are coming back very healthy.

Yes, as a Marine you get a little more leeway as to where you can go, depending on your specialty.

Google: What the Requiter Never Told You. Good article on the basic services, just remember if you don't do well with being told what to do don't join.

No...when you're in the military you work for Uncle Sam AND THEN you get an education. The military doesn't work like that.

Any military girl will get their asses kicked in boot camp. They'll expect you to be above and beyond the boys and they'll train you harder than the boys no matter what branch.

My cousin in the Navy said Bootcamp was a breeze... The 2 in the Air Force said it was a piece of cake. In order of toughest Bootcamps to easy as I read in an article once are...
The Marine Corp is the toughest and longest at 13 weeks... The Army is next. It's a 9-week camp followed by job training... It took my cousin 14 years to complete his Bachelor's degree. The Navy... and you better know how to swim and tread water... My cousin had a full scholarship and was a Navy Officer. The Air Force... not the Holiday Inn but close... |

I don't think you know either.
Why do you want to be in the military if you want to choose the easiest route? Why do you want to be in the military if you'd rather get a degree and think somehow being in the military will get your degree faster? |

Just because you may get your *** kicked lady doesn't mean I will.
Go see the online option at Military.com. And thank you for your help. |

Im not saying I want the degree faster. Some people dont have parents who were there for them the moment they were born. Who will pay for their college tuition and so on. Who said anything about easy?

*edited by me I was being mean*
There are good books available on the subject. Maybe you should look up some and read them. https://www.amazon.com/Insiders-Guide-Military-Basic-Training/dp/158112855X/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1491012316&sr=8-5&keywords=Books+on+military+bootcamps" Last edited by AmandaBroken; Mar 31, 2017 at 09:23 PM. |

When I said easy I was referring to Amanda's list of toughest to easiest routes. And you DID say Marines might be too tough for you, and the Air Force IS the easiest, according to what I've heard. Oh, and young men such as my brother had his *** kicked in the Marines, many a sobbing, home sick young men including my brother, and according to my brother, the females have it worse in the military. So expect that no matter what branch you're going to enter, be prepared to be broken down in the pits of hell of boot camp and then rebuilt a stronger person. Here's what I found on the link: Does Military Tuition Assistance or the GI Bill cover the costs of the courses? You may have to pay out of pocket for your tuition. In the military you get paid squat. It took two years for my brother to save up a small down payment for a car. Does the school grant academic credit for Military schools and experience, as recommended by the American Council on Education (ACE)? Not sure what this means. Does the media fit your needs and abilities? AKA does wherever you're touring allow the use of computers for academic use? My brother had no access to computers while on tour for 6 months. Does the school have the degree program that fits your education goals? That's up for you to decide. |

Also, to be in the military or to be in law enforcement, you have to be mentally sound. Here's a list of disorders mental and physical that will disqualify you from the military and/or law enforcement:
