To develop any form of PTSD, what type of traumatic event do you have to go through? Something that might be small to one person could be incredibly traumatic to another. So, how severe does something need to be to cause someone to develop PTSD?
Thanks! |

Consider the symptoms not the cause.

Hi nadia
You are exactly right: "Something that might be small to one person could be incredibly traumatic to another". The severity of the experience can based on how someone experiences it/feels it/the effects on them. So even if it's "small" to someone, it can still be traumatic to someone else which can lead to PTSD. But is this about yourself, any experiences you've had you feel have been traumatic, could have led to PTSD...........if so, if/when you want to talk about it..........you know there are going to be no judgements on here.........and support if you need it ![]() Alison |

Exactly. I have been diagnosed and suffer at times quite badly. For me it wasn't so much the severity of what happened as it was the frequency it occurred. Circumstances are different for everyone and triggers can be both big and small, often or infrequent. Please take comfort that whatever the cause, you are not alone in this.
