Anyone else get creeped out or feel strange when you're in a lit up indoor open space at night? I tend to have this for some reason. If at any time I am somewhere other than my house that has a big open space, even when it is lit up and inside, I still feel creeped out or on edge at night. I don't know why but I do. When I was in college, I rarely went walking on the indoor track at night if I was by myself because I got creeped out for some reason. If other people were around, no problem. By myself, then I felt uncomfortable. Same for the college center.
It was a massive open space, very populated during the day and during special events at night. But usually it was dead quiet at night and even though it was always lit up, I always felt uncomfortable being there by myself for some reason. During the day, even when it was empty, which was usually on weekends, it didn't bother me. But at night, it did. It even happens at the school I work at. I went there at night once to help out at graduation which was outside and when the ceremony was over and people were leaving, I went back inside real quick and I felt the creepy sensation again. I instantly felt better when I saw other people walking in as well. Any other places at night that are large, I would get this strange uncomfortable feeling, like I am on edge as well. Even when everything is lit up. It is much worse if it is dark obviously. Anyone know why this happens or if there is a name for this? Anyone have this problem? Do you avoid these situations? Just wondered. Last edited by Anonymous59786; Aug 16, 2017 at 03:01 PM. |

It is sorta like being in the spotlight, feeling vulrenable and exposed. It would think that feeling would be quite normal.

The house I live in has a really big floor to ceiling bay window with heavy drapes pulled back to the side in the front of the house where the dining room is. At night with the lights on, anybody can see the whole room and anyone walking by. It's the main thoroughfare. I'm slowly getting used to it but still sometimes late at night it creeps me out.
I also walk my daughter's dog late at night and I get creeped out when I walk under the street lights. When I'm back in the dark I'm ok. I know how you feel. |

I can not be in a room at night with the lights on and the blinds open. There was a story on the news when I was a kid, and ever since I can't sit in there at night. We used to have blinds but got our house redone and now we just have one big window with two smaller windows and no curtains.

I also do not like using my phone in a pitch black room because of the light. It's just creepy.
